Research clearly shows physical activity to be the most potent lifestyle intervention to improve the overall health and wellbeing of adolescents. And yet, less than 50% of school aged children currently reach the recommended target of 60 minutes per day. To spare future generations from the very real dangers of sedentary living, education about the power of exercise must become a priority in all schools and motivating movement for the masses a calling for every teacher.

Historically, the delivery of Health Related Fitness in the PE curriculum has centred around components of fitness, methods of training and benchmark testing. Little of which inspires pupils of today to embrace exertion or start where they are on a journey towards a physically active life.

MOVE60 is an innovative new programme, providing detailed lesson plans for a unit of work aimed at improving the understanding, attitudes and inclinations that underpin pupil activity levels. It provides a coherent half term’s worth of lessons and resources that are simple to follow for all teachers, including those with limited or no experience of delivering in this area.

Nothing else is required – just a commitment to promote active wellbeing for all pupils and a desire to make a difference that will last a lifetime.

MOVE60 is suitable for the Key Stage 3 PE Curriculum in schools of all types. It can also be delivered as a games option for pupils not motivated by team sports.
